The high level of quality of the sports infrastructures in Punta Umbría have turned this village into a reference point for sport practice, what is proved by the different sports championships carried out during the summer season, such as the World Table Football Cup, the International Canoe Race, the summer football and basketball leagues or the beach volleyball tournaments. Sport fishing contests and the practice of passionate sports such as wind-surfing or trekking are also part of the sports offer found in Punta Umbria.
Regarding water sports, they find the ideal place for practice in the coast of Punta Umbria. Sailing, wind-surfing and kite surfing fans can enjoy almost all year round the incredible conditions of our coast for their practice. We must stress as well the facilities provided by the marina and the Royal Maritime and Tennis Club of Punta Umbria located in the Ria beach. Besides, this beach is a perfect place for rowing and canoeing, sports which have their own school in Punta Umbria.
In the athletics field, , the municipal sports centre Antonio Hernández has a 400m track and 8 lanes used as official venue for the Iberoamerican Athletics Championship in 2004. It also has a football pitch, tennis courts and a multi-purpose playing field. There are other facilities in the area: the Municipal Indoor Sports hall, the municipal football pitch, the indoor swimming pool or the sports centre in El Portil .
